Narrative Design in Reintegration Project

For this project, I worked on the dialogues and pacing.

Friends Chat Version 1

F1: Heyo, so... for Friday, I am bringing chicken wings. Going to make them using my dad's recipe, as you guys love it 😊

F2: Ah, super! I will bring the cold snacks. I am so excited; we are finally going to get together! It's been a long time since we could all relax together.

F3: Yep! Barbecue will be great this time, and the weather should be clear. And we finally managed to get (MC) out of her work! You are still coming, aren't you?

MC: Yeah, about that. I have a really important deadline on Monday, so I have to work overtime on Friday. I am really sorry, but I can’t make it.

F1: What? Are you kidding us? It's not even funny anymore, if I'm being honest.

F3: Mmm... I see. Well, that was expected.

F4: Damn, we've already rescheduled the date twice. Didn't you say you would keep the day free?

Friends Chat Version 2

MC: Well… Sorry guys, I can’t make it this time. Something personal came up. I will make it up next time.

F1: Oh, again? Well, I hope it’s serious. You kind of promised 4 times already.

F3: If it’s you work again, I swear to God…

F2: Cmon, are you sure you can’t move it?

Child Interupting

Hey, I need your help right now. You know Maria is sick this week, and we have a deadline coming up soon. Just proofread and sign the papers, add your part of the report, and we will complete the report together. I've already taken care of my portion of the remaining documents, but I have a meeting now, so I can't handle the other part. Please finish up the documents and send them over to me today, as I'll need an extra day to structure them properly. I understand it's a busy time, but you remember what happened the last time we were late with the report. *checks the watch*.

Husband Monologue

VER:1 I don't even know why I bother anymore. You're stuck in that forsaken work. I can't remember the last time we had a proper conversation or an evening to ourselves. And it's not just about me; [Child Name]... [Child Name] needs you. And honestly, I need you too. We can't continue like this. We used to be so close, and now it's like we're strangers. I can't bear to see you exhausted like this every day. I want to support you; I do everything around the house yet I also have work, dear. But the more I take on to help you, the more work piles up on your shoulders. And it feels like this cycle will never end. Actually, you told me you would have more free time this month. Last month. And where is it? Please, we need to change this because it feels like you take care of those children more than you do about me and [Child Name]. And I don’t want to believe that it’s true.

VER:2 (ANGRY) You never have time for me anymore. You're stuck in that forsaken work. You have been telling me it will get better after this week; that was FOUR months ago. How much longer are we going to let this never-ending nightmare continue? It's beyond ridiculous; it's torment. We have a FAMILY, but when was the last time you spent more than 15 minutes with our child? S/He NEEDS you! Our family is falling apart, and all you can think about is work. Lately, it even feels like you care more about the kids at work than your own child. You keep telling me that it is not true, and I want to believe that it is true, but what is s/he supposed to think? She needs HER MOTHER. And honestly, I am getting sick of your excuses.

VERSION 3 (DESPERATE): You never have time for me anymore. I genuinely can't remember the last time we had a proper conversation or an evening to ourselves. And it's not just about me; [Child Name]... [Child Name] NEEDS you. And honestly, I need you too. I'm doing my best to support you. I handle all the household chores, take care of [Child Name], even though I have my own work to contend with. It's challenging, but I've done it for you. I've never complained because I know how dedicated you are to helping others. However, it's become unsustainable. I can't bear to watch you work yourself into the ground, dedicating your entire life to paperwork. I understand your commitment to your work and those children, but you have your own child who desperately needs your attention. We're a family, and [Child Name] misses her mother. I miss you.

Passing by Colleague

VER:1 Hey, I'm not sure if you received my email about the deadline. I just wanted to remind you that we have a quartile report deadline on Monday. We need the report to be finished by that day, so please ensure you've included all the necessary files. Also, do you recall the previous time? Let's make the report more structured. It was quite disorganized the last time, and I don't have time to figure out what you meant by that.

VER2: "Hey, I need your help right now. You know Maria is sick this week, and we have a deadline coming up soon. Just proofread and sign the papers, add your part to the report, and we will complete it together.
