Bound By Bonds (2022)
Do you know what war feels like?
24.02.2022 was a day when Russia started a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. We found it important to try and help Ukrainians with our project. Our team decided to dedicate our final 2-month course to alarm people from all countries about the terrors that are happening in Ukraine. One of the most well-known consequences of Russian Aggression is the Mariupol tragedy. We decided to try to illustrate the horror of war there and encourage to donate to Ukraine.

What is this project about?
The main goal of the project is to show the world how war feels. Our team worked diligently to replicate the Mariupol landmarks and to research the history and culture of the region in order to convey the modern realities of the city and the despair that the residents feel now. In Bound by Bonds you play as one of the twins from Mariupol - Denys and Dana. Russian aggression has separated the brother and sister, forcing them to go through hell, but above all, they want to find each other. During the game, you move through the ruined Mariupol observing horrific landscapes that were once associated with memories of a happy childhood. We reveal the history of the twins and their family, telling the prehistory of the city and feel the despair of losing the home, which was heartlessly destroyed by the Russian occupation.

About the Project
Team of 15 people, that worked on 2 games, spent on this project 2 month. Part 1 is “Bound by Bonds”. It tells about the characters and the more personal side of teenagers in Mariupol. Hundreds of assets, text pages and code lines were created to make this project true. It is a first-person local co-op adventure for 2 players. The game will be focused on finding each-other in almost completely destroyed city Mariupol, Ukraine without navigation. Both players will be guided by memories or flashbacks to the point they reunite again. Created on Unity Engine, with the Help of Houdini and the full set of the Art applications to re-create a destructed city based on pictures and old videos. Immersive and heart-touching story about the end of childhood and start of the true war will not leave you not touched.
The project was presented on the WIRWAR convention in Enchede. Updates on this project are still being posted. You can check the updates here.
